Cardiovascular Surgery
The Cardiovascular Surgery program at Beaumont is nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top programs in the country. Beaumont's cardiovascular surgeons have a wealth of experience and can offer the most advanced cardiac care in the world.
Beaumont is a pioneer in the latest cardiovascular technologies and innovative, minimally-invasive techniques. By using smaller incisions for open-heart procedures, our surgeons reduce risk and recovery time. As one of the few hospitals doing minimally-invasive cardiac surgery, Beaumont stays abreast of the latest medical breakthroughs in order to give our patients the best care possible.
The following is a list of some of the major cardiovascular procedures performed at Beaumont:
-
Cardiac Valve Surgery
- Mitral Valve Repair
- Mitral Valve Replacement
- Aortic Valve Replacement
- Coronary Artery Bypass (CABG)
- MAZE Procedure for the treatment of atrial fibrillation
- Left Ventrical Restoration Repair of Thoracic Aneurysm
Beaumont is currently collecting data on all general thoracic surgery cases at Royal Oak and Troy with the objective of comparing data results with national benchmarks for general thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. This is being done through the Society of Thoracic Surgery - STS General Thoracic & Cardiovascular. The implementation date for General Thoracic was January 2004 and for Cardiovascular, 1992. Future plans call for ongoing participation with STS and a continuation with the BCBS project for cardiovascular surgery. Quality initiatives are through the Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons.
